MICHIGAN TIMBER CONSERVATION, llc

Complete Forest Plan

-OUTLINE INFORMATION-

Michigan Timber Conservation, LLC is committed to ongoing Forest Stewardship, and Sustainable Forestry excellence.  It is our primary goal to maintain Michigan Forests in an economical, responsible manner, while exceeding the expectations of our forest owners.”

Below, you will find a program outline that describes the benefits of becoming a member, and what you should expect from us in the future.

FOREST MANAGEMENT-

During enrollment, our members are provided with a long-term management approach that addresses all aspects of Sustainable Forestry.  Ongoing field studies are performed periodically to insure proper management practices have been applied.

ANNUAL CARBON PAYMENTS-

Throughout the duration of the program, members will receive royalty payments for the amount of carbon their forest captures/off-sets.  Michigan Timber Conservation, LLC verifies these off-sets, bringing them to the market place, where they are sold to the highest bidder.  Each member receives a percentage of all off-sets.  The amount a member is to receive is directly related to the amount of acreage they have enrolled into the program.

QUALITY HARVESTING METHODS-

On occasion, some parcels may need proper thinning to insure continued positive growth and timber production.  These operations are provided by our company.

LONG TERM INVESTMENTS-

We believe in investing in the future.  Our members are proportionately rewarded for their timber investments.  During the program period, members contribute a small percentage off their off-sets into a Protection Pool.  This Pool is designed to protect the integrity of all forest stock.  We cannot see catastrophic events before they happen, but we can plan for them.  Upon completion of the program, members are rewarded for their contributions with the remaining off-sets available in the pool.

COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE-

“Our commitment is to provide a sustainable forestry program that insures a profitable, renewable resource for many generations to come.”  As our relationship to woodlot owners increase, the concept of eco-forestry, reforestation, and wildlife habitat have become a well balanced part of Michigan's only true sustainable forestry program.

Sustainable Soil and Water Quality Practices on Forest Land
(formerly Best Management Practices (BMP) on Forest Land)

This Manual describes a set of voluntary Forestry Best Management Practices (BMPs) that protect our soil and water resources while allowing appropriate use of our forest resources.

This is the first substantial revision of the 1994 publication, Water Quality Practices on Forest Land, also known as Michigan's Forestry Best Management Practices (BMP) Manual. This 2009 version supersedes previous versions.

BMPs described in previous editions are incorporated into this manual and their specifications have not changed much, nor have the statutes governing them. However, the scope and use of the term "Best Management Practices" has expanded. The manual describes BMPs in the context of those practices that not only protect surface water quality, but soil quality too.
